Walk to school
October 5, 2016
October is International Walk to School Month (IWALK).
For some walking to school isn’t possible and for many others it isn’t simple but did you know the average school run costs, on average, more than £400 per year?
Walking to school also helps reduce traffic congestion, air pollution and carbon emissions and increased physical activity is proven to help children do better in the classroom. This makes walking to school good for our wallets, well-being and the environment.
Living Streets have developed challenge packs to help children log the days they walk to school. Everyone who walks to school at least once a week will earn a badge at the end of the month.
