Petworth Neighbourhood Plan

Petworth Town Council are preparing a Neighbourhood Development Plan for the parish of Petworth . Further details of the process they have undertaken are available at the Petworth Town Council website. The following key stages have been completed:

Plan ‘made’ (adopted)	The Petworth NDP (Submission Plan incorporating the Examiner’s modifications and all modifications as per the SDNPA Decision Statement) complies with the legal requirements and basic conditions set out in the Localism Act 2011 and as a result of the SDNPA Planning Committee resolution on 12th July 2018 has been made. Petworth Neighbourhood Plan – Made Plan The Petworth NDP is a part of the Development Plan of the SDNPA Local Planning Authority area as defined by the Neighbourhood Area Designation by the SDNPA on 16 January 2014 The made Petworth NDP can be viewed at the following location: South Downs Centre, North Street, Midhurst, GU29 9DH
Referendum	On Thursday 7th June 2018 a referendum took place on a neighbourhood development plan in the Petworth area. Final Decision Statement	On 19^th April 2018, the SDNPA agreed the Final Decision Statement for the Petworth NDP. This sets out the modifications that will be made to the plan in response to the Examiner’s recommendations. The following Information and Documents have been published: SDNPA Notification of Decision Statement Petworth NDP Decision Statement Report to Director of Planning: Consultation on Site H8 (including summary of representations, SDNPA’s response and Recommendation) The Petworth NDP will be amended accordingly and will proceed to Referendum on 7^th June 2018. Information with regards to this will appear on the website shortly.
Draft Decision Statement	The Examiner has issued his final report and concludes that, subject to a number of modifications, the Petworth NDP can proceed to referendum. The SDNPA must issue a ‘Decision Statement’ setting out how the Petworth NDP will be modified in response to the Examiner’s Report. Due to the inclusion of a new allocation (Policy H8, Land South of Rothermead) representations are invited from 9 February to 23 March 2018 on that aspect of the plan only before final approval of the Decision Statement is considered. Independent Examination	The SDNPA and Chichester District Council appointed Mr John Slater as independent examiner of the Petworth Neighbourhood Plan. The Examiner assessed whether the Plan met certain legal requirements, known as ‘basic conditions’ and considered the representations that were made. The Examiner has now issued his final report, which the SDNPA and CDC will consider. A ‘Decision Statement’ will be prepared setting out the actions to be taken in report to the recommendations of the Examiner. Publicising the Plan proposal	The SDNPA published the submitted Petworth NDP for consultation in accordance with Part 5 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012. The consultation ran from Monday 4 September to Monday 16 October 2017.
