The Petersfield NDP was modified in September 2024.  The minor modifications included corrections, clarifications, updated maps and references, and some changes to the supporting text in relation to superseded national and local planning policies.

The modification statement was prepared by the SDNPA on 04 September 2024.  The modification statement, along with the modified Petersfield NDP, was approved by the Petersfield Town Council Finance & General Purposes Committee on 19 September 2024.

The Petersfield NDP complies with the legal requirements and basic conditions set out in the Localism Act 2011, and as a result in the SDNPA Planning Committee resolution on 21 January 2016, has been made.

The made Petersfield NDP is a part of the Development Plan for the SDNPA Local Planning Authority area as defined by the Neighbourhood Area designated by the SDNPA on 13 September 2012.

The made Petersfield NDP can be viewed at the following locations:

• Petersfield Town Council, Town Hall, Heath Road, Petersfield, GU31 4EA.

A referendum was held on the Petersfield NDP on 19 November 2015.

There was a 26% turnout, with the following results:

• Yes = 83% (2,258 votes)
• No = 17% (455 votes)

The SDNPA agreed the Decision Statement for the Petersfield NDP on 10 September 2015.

The Decision Statement sets out the modifications that were made to the Petersfield NDP in response to the Examiner’s modifications in their final report.

The Petersfield NDP was modified accordingly and proceeded to referendum on 19 November 2015.

The SDNPA appointed Mr Christopher Lockhart-Mummery QC as the Independent Examiner of the Petersfield Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP).

The Examiner assessed whether the Petersfield NDP met certain legal requirements, known as the “basic conditions” and considered representations made on the Petersfield NDP.

A public hearing was held, and a site visit took place, on 04 and 05 June 2015 respectively.

The Examiner issued their final report in July 2015.
