Arundel Neighbourhood Plan

Arundel Town Council (ATC) has prepared a Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) for Arundel. Further details are available on the Arundel Town Council website.

The Arundel NDP is part of the Development Plan for the South Downs National Park area of the parish as defined by the Neighbourhood Area designated on 14 March 2013.

The Arundel NDP can be viewed at the following locations:

Statutory stage	Further information & documents
NDP 3 – Arundel NDP (2^nd Review)	The Arundel NDP (NDP1) and its 1^st Review (NDP2) were made on 12 June 2014 and 20 December 2019 respectively. In March 2023, Arundel Town Council (ATC) – as the qualifying body for the preparation of the Arundel NDP – initiated a second review and update of the Arundel NDP, hereon referred to as “Arundel NDP (2^nd Review)” or “Arundel NDP 3”.
NDP 2 – Arundel NDP (1^st Review)	The Arundel NDP Review (“NDP2”) – i.e., the Submission Plan incorporating the Examiner’s modifications and all other modifications as per the Decision Statement – complies with the legal requirements and basic conditions set out in the Localism Act 2011 and, on 20 December 2019, was formally made part of the Development Plan for the South Downs National Park area of the parish. Made Arundel NDP Review. Reg20 Adoption Statement. A summary of the NDP review is set out below and further information is available on the Arun District Council website. A referendum was held on 19 November 2019 with 80.29% of the turnout voting “yes”. Arun District Council (ADC) agreed the Decision Statement on 10 October 2019. The Examiner’s Final Report was published on 03 October 2019. Arun District Council (ADC) published the Submission Arundel NDP Review (NDP2) for consultation between 17 July and 28 August 2019. Arundel Town Council (ATC) carried out a pre-submission consultation on the Draft Arundel NDP Review (NDP2) between 09 November and 21 December 2018.
NDP 1 – Arundel NDP (Original)	The Arundel NDP – i.e., the Submission Plan incorporating the Examiner’s modifications and all modifications as per the Decision Statement – complies with the legal requirements and basic conditions set out in the Localism Act 2011 and, as a result of the SDNPA resolution on 12 June 2014, has been made. Made Arundel NDP. A summary of the NDP preparation is set out below and further information is available on the Arun District Council website. A referendum was held on 08 April 2014 with 90.4% of the turnout voting “yes”. Arun District Council (ADC) agreed the Decision Statement on 25 February 2014. The Examiner’s Final Report was published on 10 February 2014. Arun District Council (ADC) published the Submission Arundel NDP (NDP1) for consultation between 05 December 2013 and 16 January 2024. Arun Town Council (ATC) carried out a pre-submission consultation on the Draft Arundel NDP (NDP1) between 16 September and 21 October 2013.
Designated Neighbourhood Area	A consultation on an application to designate the Arundel Neighbourhood Area was carried out between 03 October to 14 November 2012. The SDNPA designated the part of the Arundel Neighbourhood Area that is within the National Park on 14 March 2013. Designated Neighbourhood Area.
