Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) and Scoping Report

Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) and Scoping Report

As part of the evidence base to support the Local Plan Review an Integrated Impact Assessment has been produced. A further iteration of the Integrated Impact Assessment will be published alongside the Regulation 19 Local Plan and submitted with it for examination by the Planning Inspectorate.

The SDNPA is required to ensure that sustainable development is promoted throughout a Local Plan preparation.

To assist in this process the SDNPA must prepare a report assessing the sustainability of plans it prepares and will do so through undertaking an Integrated Impact Assessment.

The Integrated Impact Assessment incorporates:

  • Sustainability Appraisal, incorporating Strategical Environmental Assessment (SA/SEA)
  • Equalities Impact Assessment (EIA) and
  • Health Impact Assessment (HIA)

A set of objectives are used which cover all the relevant issues. The development strategy, policies and allocations of the Local Plan Review are assessed against these objectives.  The outcomes from this Assessment should then inform the choices made about the content of the Local Plan Review.

A Scoping Report for the SA/SEA was consulted on in 2023.  Following the incorporation of EqIA and HIA a revised version of the Scoping Report was consulted on over the summer of 2024.  The Integrated Impact Assessment was adjusted to respond to consultee comments and then used to assess the Regulation 18 consultation document.
