The South Downs Local Plan was adopted on 2 July 2019 and will replace all of the below policies.

Lewes District Joint Core Strategy (2016) – Adopted by the SDNPA on 23 June 2016.Policies SP1 and SP2 of the Lewes District Joint Core Strategy, insofar as they apply to the administrative area of the South Downs National Park, were quashed at the High Court on 20 March 2017. Work continues on the emerging South Downs Local Plan to ensure that there is an up to date development plan for all parts of the National Park including that part which lies within Lewes District.

NEIGHBOURHOOD DEVELOPMENT PLANS

Once they achieve ‘made’ status, Neighbourhood Development Plans covering land within the South Downs National Park also become part of the Development Plan. Please see our Neighbourhood Development Plans page for updates on the status of any Neighbourhood Development Plan in your area.
