Why not try these spiritual sites…
For a more formal spiritual experience, set your feet eastwards on the chalk of the South Downs Way before descending into the lovely old town of Steyning, home to one of the South Down’s very own saints.
Local lore has it that the hermit Saint Cuthman arrived here in the 7th century bringing his invalid mother on a wheelbarrow and first built the church. You can still see the eighth century church of St. Andrew which stands on the very spot with a statute of the saint himself.
There are plenty more spiritual spots within distance with ancient churches at Beeding, Bramber and Botolphs, as well as a number of cosy tea rooms in Steyning for some earnest contemplation over homemade scones and jam.
