Star Party and Night Walks at Alice Holt
30 October 2024
17.30 to 20.00
Join South Downs National Park and Alice Holt staff to #embracethedarkness this October!
Celebrating the National Park’s status as an International Dark Sky Reserve, we will be at Alice Holt after dark for a Star Party and two “Nature at Night” walks.
Come and learn about what it means to be a Dark Sky reserve and discover what might go “bump” in the night around Alice Holt.
We will be keeping our fingers firmly crossed for clear skies to explore with our telescopes and night vision goggles while Ranger Jake and others will explore the local woods for bats and other nocturnal wildlife.
Have a go at our Dark Skies jigsaw, learn about the best places to go stargazing in the South Downs, and why it’s important to protect the skies and nocturnal wildlife from light pollution.
The café will be open and serving hot drinks and a limited evening menu of hot food. Come and experience Alice Holt at night and #EmbraceTheDarkness
To join the “Nature at Night” walks, please sign up on Eventbrite.
Walks run from 5.45-6.30pm and 6.45-7.30pm.
Please note that this event is weather dependent – please check on the South Downs social media/website before coming.
