National map reading week – 17 to 23 October 2016
There are worse places to be lost than the South Downs but even in the gentle rolling hills and mild weather of our National Park there could be consequences to taking a wrong direction.
If you’ve ever found yourself halfway up the wrong hill or wandered astray in a picturesque village you’ll know the benefits of being able to read a map to get you back on the right path.
Being able to read a map is not just an important life skill, it’s fundamental to all outdoor activities. Ordnance Survey have launched their first National Map Reading week to help people get outside and enjoy themselves – without fear of getting lost.
Ordnance Survey have published great guides and films on their website to boost your skills, whatever your age or ability.
