Dog Fun at Woolbeding Parkland
August 2, 2016
With the sun shining down the annual South Downs National Park and National Trust Dog Fun Day welcomed dogs of all shapes and sizes, from great danes and alsatians to miniature daschunds and a multitude of terriers.
Preened to perfection our four legged friends strutted their stuff on the grassy stage. Prizes were handed out for cuddliest pup, golden oldie, owner-dog lookalikey and the most trickiest of all, the dog the judge would most like to take home.
The speediest of dogs tested their legs on the scurry run, while the springiest cruised through the ‘have-a-go’ agility course. Children and adults alike got lost in the woods and then ‘found for a pound’ by the Sussex Search Dogs, and after all of this activity there were ice-creams and burgers for the owners and ‘pupsicles’ for the dogs.
In amongst the strutting, scurrying, eating and judging the dogs (and their owners) received some top tips on responsible dog walking and dog ownership. With so many beautiful spots to walk dogs in the South Downs it’s important that we remember to keep dogs on the lead around livestock and wildlife, and to always bag and bin any dog poo.
Thank you to everyone who came and helped make the event such a success. See you next year!
