Trees for the Downs

Trees for the Downs

The South Downs National Park Trust is launching a major new campaign to plant 5000 trees across the National Park.

The Trust needs to raise £61,500 to do this.

The campaign is aiming to restore iconic trees in community spaces, along roads and popular walking routes.

‘Trees for the Downs’ is being supported by Hillier Nurseries and Garden Centres, who will be growing and nurturing the trees before being planted.

The planting will involve using a range of friendly species, such as the Native black poplar, oak, and whitebeam, as well as specially-bred disease resistant cultivars of elm.
