Hangers Way – Section Two

A number of long distance trails pass through our area. There’s the South Downs Way, Serpent Trail, Lipchis Way and Monarch’s Way to name a few. However, the 21 mile Hangers Way starts and finishes in East Hampshire.
This makes it logistically straight forward to plan and complete in two manageable sections. Over the course of two weekends in September and October the plan is to walk the Hangers Way from Queen Elizabeth Country Park (QECP) to Alton. Not able to make both dates? Don’t worry, join the sections that you can this time and complete the walk next year when there will be another opportunity to walk the trail.
This second section is an 11 mile stretch from Hawkley to Alton. It will involve a couple of climbs, one that is quite steep, before reaching our destination, the Ten Tun Tap in Lady Place.
Unfortunately, there is no weekend public transport service to Alton. We will therefore park/meet in Hawkley, walk to Alton and then take a taxi back to our cars at the end of the day (or make your own arrangements). Cost: This walk will cost £12 per person if you would like a taxi back from Alton to Hawkley.
There is no cost if you prefer to make your own arrangements for transport at the end of the walk. Facilities: there are public toilets in Selborne. Food and Drink: please bring these with you, we will be picnicking along the way. Booking your place: The Eventbrite booking system has been set up for this walk to be free.
However, when you book you will be sent an email asking if you would like to pay for the organised taxi or not. If you would like a taxi home you will be sent payment details and your place will be confirmed once the £12 per person has been received.
This method of direct payment avoids the additional Eventbrite administration fee. Alternatively, please reply to the email saying that you will be responsible for making your own transport arrangements at the end of the walk. Well behaved dogs on leads welcome
