South Downs Junior Rangers (volunteer role)

South Downs Junior Rangers (volunteer role)

South Downs Junior Rangers gives young people aged 14-16 volunteering opportunities to gain new skills, meet people in the conservation sector and take positive action outdoors for this precious landscape, whilst completing the volunteering hours needed for your Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Sounds great! What next?

We have recently filled our spaces for 2024. We hope to reopen the opportunity next year. If you are interested in finding out more, please email us on learning@southdowns.gov.uk

What does the program look like when it reopens?

  • Complete three Sunday tasks alongside our ranger teams to complete vital conservation tasks in the South Downs National Park. These might include things such as scrub clearance, fence building and species monitoring. Most tasks run between 10am-3pm.
  • Young people will need access to their own transport to get to and from site, with transport costs covered by the South Downs National Park.
  • Complete vital tasks on your own during one other weekend in the month. We shall teach you how and where to complete this task during your induction
