Discover the South Downs

Discover the South Downs

Building on the success of the previous Generation Green project, we have secured additional funding to deliver more nature connection and nights under the stars in 2024-25.

We are inviting all schools with over 30% of their pupils eligible for pupil premium funding to join us in a fully- funded visit to the South Downs National Park, including up to £450 towards your transportation costs.

Day Visits

Develop Nature Connection, whilst building on children’s social skills, teamwork, and environmental knowledge.

Choose from a range of activities including bushcraft, mindful practise, conservation skills, wild art, natural science and much, much more.

We like to create these days in partnership with schools and look forward to hearing how we might accommodate your needs into these trips.

Visits will be hosted in one of our many fantastic sites around the South Downs National Park.

Night Under the Stars

The South Downs National Park is one of seven International Dark Night Sky Reserves in the UK, with only 19 in the world.

We have some of the wildest and darkest areas from which to appreciate the skies above us.

Join us for a evening under the stars, where we can explain how valuable our star-studded skies are and why they are worth protecting.

And don’t worry there are plenty of wet weather/ cloudy sky options if needed!

Residentials

The Sustainability Centre, on behalf of the South Downs National Park, are offering 1 night, full funded residentials (including a contribution towards travel costs) in their idyllic setting in the Hampshire countryside.

Suitable for year groups 3-11, immerse yourself in topics such as sustainability, ecology and climate change, whilst learning more about the nature around you.  Click here to find out more about the activities on offer.

There is limited availability so enquire quickly to secure your place. Please contact The Sustainability Centre directly on education@sustainability-centre.org
