Young Writers Competition

We are delighted to announce Petersfield Climate Action Network’s Young Writers Competition!
Competitors can choose to submit a work of fiction or non-fiction, and there are two age groups: 7-11 years and 12-16 years, with a winner and runner-up in both Fiction and Non-Fiction categories.
Winners will be announced at Petersfield Eco Fair on Sunday 14th July 2024, with prizes and publication in local print and radio. The theme of the Non-Fiction category is ‘Ten Minutes in Nature’ and should be a piece of no more than 250 words, using your senses to describe a special place or experience in nature.
The Fiction category theme is ‘Green Flash Fiction’, with submissions no more than 400 words in length – describing a world where climate, sustainability, rewilding, recycling are part of the picture, but not the whole story.
PeCAN will provide prizes for non-fiction award winners, with One Tree Books donating prizes for the writers of fiction.
