Call for Sites 2022
As part of the Local Plan Review and to inform the Land Availability Assessment (LAA) we launched a new “Call for Sites”.
The Call for Sites ran from Wednesday 10 August 2022 Wednesday 28 September 2022.
This was an early opportunity for individuals, landowners, town and parish councils and developers to suggest sites within the National Park for development and offsetting up to 2040.
These sites are assessed as part of the Land Availability Assessment (LAA) along with other sites known to the Authority, including reviewing sites previously considered.
The LAA will not determine whether a site should be allocated for development. However, it will help to identify a potential pool of sites for further consideration. This will help to inform future decisions on allocations in the Local Plan Review or in Neighbourhood Development Plans.
There were approximately 300 sites that were newly submitted or resubmitted to the Call for Sites, and approximately 540 sites in the previous Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment which will be reviewed.
The Policy Team are currently working through the site assessments for the LAA.
We expect to publish our initial conclusions this Autumn/Winter.
What type of sites are being considered?
The following types of sites are being considered:
- New homes
- 100% affordable homes
- Specialised care (C2) for example for older persons
- Self and custom build homes
- Permanent and transit accommodation for Gypsies & Travellers and travelling showpeople
- Economic development including offices, manufacturing and warehousing
- Renewable energy (non-domestic scale)
- Biodiversity Net Gain offsetting
- Nutrient offsetting
How are the sites being assessed?
Sites are being considered in the Land Availability Assessment. For more information, please see the LAA Methodology.
Previously submitted sites
We are considering all sites previously assessed in the Strategic Housing Land Availability (SHLAA) 2016. If your site was previously assessed and you have new information on the availability and deliverability of sites, please use the site submission form below on this webpage, and please provide the SHLAA reference number.
More information on the previous SHLAA can be found here.
How do I submit a site?
Whilst the formal Call for Sites window has closed, it is still possible to submit a site. If you wish to put forward a site, please complete a site submission form.
You will need to complete a separate form for each site that you wish to put forward.
