Newhaven Neighbourhood Plan
Newhaven Town Council (NTC) has prepared a Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) for Newhaven. Further details are available on the Newhaven Town Council website.

The Newhaven NDP – i.e., the Submission Plan incorporating the Examiner’s modifications and all other modifications as per the Decision Statement – complies with the legal requirements and basic conditions set out in the Localism Act 2011 and, as a result on the SDNPA resolution on 14 November 2019 , has been made. The Newhaven NDP is part of the Development Plan for the South Downs National Park area of the town as defined by the Neighbourhood Area designated on 08 July 2013. Referendum |
A referendum was held on the Newhaven NDP on 10 October 2019. Further information on the referendum is available on the Lewes District Council website. There was a 14.74 % turnout, with the following results:

Decision Statement |
Lewes District Council (LDC) agreed the Decision Statement for the Newhaven NDP in July 2019. This sets out the modifications that were made to the Newhaven NDP prior to referendum. |
| Independent Examination | Lewes District Council (LDC) appointed Mr Tony Burton as the Independent Examiner of the Newhaven Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP). The Examiner published their final report in June 2019. |
| Regulation 16 – Submission Consultation | Lewes District Council (LDC) published the Submission Newhaven Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) for consultation between 07 February and 21 March 2019. The Submission Newhaven NDP is available below and its evidence base and submission documents are available on the Lewes District Council website. |
| Regulation 14 – Pre-Submission Consultations |
Newhaven Town Council (NTC) carried out a pre-submission consultation on the Draft Newhaven Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) between 03 May and 21 June 2017. |

Designated Neighbourhood Area |
A consultation on an application to designate the Newhaven Neighbourhood Area was carried out between 10 April and 23 May 2013. The SDNPA designated the part of the Newhaven Neighbourhood Area that is within the National Park on 08 July 2013. |
