Spring clean your community

Spring clean your community

March 19, 2015

Saturday 21 March is the official start of spring, so what better time to begin spring cleaning.

Community Clear Up Day is a ‘national spring clean’, backed by the Government, that aims to spruce up England’s high streets, residential and business areas, villages and parks.

To get the ball rolling we persuaded a team to clear litter near the South Downs Centre in Midhurst during their lunch break. The footpath leading from the bus station to the Cowdray Ruins kept the group busy – it was challenge enough in just avoiding the dog mess left at the side of the path.

Between them they collected five bags of litter and are planning to go back in the near future with wellies and try to fish the bottles out of the stream.

Get involved in the Community Clear Up Day or contact your local council for advice and to arrange rubbish collection – they may also be able to lend you high-vis vests and litter pickers.
