Responsible dog walkers welcome here!

Responsible dog walkers welcome here!

May 1, 2015

The South Downs National Park is a great place for dogs to get exercise – particularly as the days get warmer and longer. And there are plenty of physical, social and mental benefits for owners too.

Research carried out in 2014 revealed that more than 90 per cent of dog walkers in the South Downs are frustrated for themselves or others when they see people not picking up after their pet or not having the dog under proper control.

So with lambs out in the fields and ground birds nesting across the National Park it’s time to celebrate the well-trained dogs – and their humans – who are out taking the lead and respecting wildlife, farmers and other people whilst enjoying the National Park.

To prove that the majority of people are taking the lead in the South Downs, the National Park Authority began a search for four canine stars (and their owners) to help encourage the small minority who aren’t to join them.
